The COVID-19 vaccine is now available for everyone over the age of twelve. NIMVAX is currently offering appointments for first and second doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. We also offer boosters of any of the types of vaccines for people ages 12 and up.
COVID-19 Update: On December 22nd, 2021, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization of Pfizer’s Paxlovid pill for treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease in adults and pediatric patients older than 12. Paxlovid is available by prescription and should be initiated as soon as possible after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Different types of vaccines work in different ways to offer protection. But with all types of vaccines, the body is left with a supply of “memory” T-lymphocytes as well as B-lymphocytes that will remember how to fight that virus in the future.
It typically takes a few weeks after vaccination for the body to produce T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes. Therefore, it is possible that a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and then get sick because the vaccine did not have enough time to provide protection.
Sometimes after vaccination, the process of building immunity can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are signs that the body is building immunity.
To be fully vaccinated, you will need two shots of some COVID-19 vaccines.
Two Shots: If you get a COVID-19 vaccine that requires two shots, you are considered fully vaccinated after your second shot. Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Novavax COVID-19 vaccines require two shots.
Individuals are not charged for the vaccine or its administration. The federal government pays for the cost of vaccines. Vaccination centers are reimbursed for the administration of vaccines through the patient’s insurance, or by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) program for patients who are uninsured.
The symptoms of getting COVID-19 entail difficulty breathing, tiredness, fatigue, headache, cough, stomach pain, fever, and much more. Even worse, some people experience post-COVID conditions, where symptoms persist for months after the initial infection. In response to the spread of this highly infectious virus, vaccines are recommended for most people. The most common side effects of getting the shot are pain, redness, and swelling on your arm, and tiredness, muscle pain, chills, fever, and nausea throughout the rest of your body. The majority of vaccine recipients experience only mild to moderate symptoms that typically go away within a few days.
While there are side-effects to the COVID-19 vaccine, the risk related to them are many magnitudes less than the health risk of getting COVID-19 without having been vaccinated.
The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccination for anyone 6 months of age and older. The flu vaccination is especially important for people at high risk for flu complications, which includes pregnant women, the elderly, and people with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease . At NIMVAX, we provide flu vaccinations to adults and children ages 3 years of age and older.
Because infections from the latter two have already peaked, the well-publicized trifecta of COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) will soon fade from the news. Both influenza and RSV infections are expected to fall earlier than usual, according to the CDC. COVID-19 won’t decrease over time. Getting a COVID-19 vaccination is as important as ever.
Those who pass away from acute illness are frequently invisible and simple to overlook. People over 65 make up only 16% of the population in the US, yet they are responsible for 75% of all COVID-19 deaths.
A brand-new and extremely concerning COVID-19 variation is on the rise. The variety, which is a recombinant (fusion) of various Omicron variants, has roughly doubled in prevalence during the past week, accounting for close to 41% of new cases, according to the CDC projection of infections.
Intensive care units in hospitals are currently being overrun by RSV infections, pushing bed occupancy in several areas to over 80%. The winter COVID-19 spike will take over when RSV declines.
Patients need hospital care for a variety of reasons aside from infections. Fall-related injuries, heart attacks, hypothermia, and carbon monoxide poisoning are among the most prevalent winter-related conditions that need medical attention. COVID-19 will clog up and strain our medical system. That means it might be harder to find a hospital bed if you are suffering from serious complications. That is another reason it is so important to get a COVID-19 vaccination from NIMVAX.
In response to the evolving landscape of infectious diseases, including the emergence of new COVID-19 variants like XBB.1.5, the FDA has recently approved a set of innovative COVID-19 vaccines for the upcoming winter season. These vaccines have been developed to address the specific challenges posed by the circulating variants and to ensure maximum protection for our patients.
For those aged 65 and older, we recommend the triple vaccine, which combines protection against three significant threats to public health: the seasonal flu, Moderna, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Here’s why this triple vaccine is vital:
